About the Quiz

The Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados, in collaboration with the Lions Club of St. Michael, is pleased to announce its second National Primary School Diabetes Quiz for Class 2 and Class 3 students. The diabetes quiz will encourage children at this formative age to increase awareness about the signs and symptoms of diabetes, its complications, and prevention.

The quiz comprises of three (3) rounds:

  1. Preliminary Round – Participants will review the KiDS diabetes booklet and the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados information booklet, then complete an online quiz.
  2. Semi-Final Round – The highest-scoring students will be contacted using the information provided during the preliminary round. They will receive additional study materials and take a written in-person quiz.
  3. Final Round – The top students will be reached out to again, given further study resources, and invited to participate in the finals, which will be an oral in-person quiz.

  1. Is the quiz a group effort or an individual assessment?
    The quiz is an individual assessment, and the student can only attempt the quiz once.
  2. Is the preliminary quiz timed?
    Yes, the quiz is timed.
  3. What type of questions would be given?
    All questions will be multiple-choice questions.
  4. How many students per school can enter the quiz?
    There is no limit as to how many students from a school can enter. The only requirement is that the student is in Class 2 or Class 3.
  5. Is the quiz online?
    The preliminary round is online. The semi-final and final rounds will be in-person quizzes.
  6. What will be the format of the semi-final and final rounds of the quiz?
    The Semi-final round is in written format, comprising of multiple-choice questions, true and false questions, and short-answer questions. The Final round of the quiz will be an in-person oral round with three different levels of questioning (easy, medium, hard).
  7. How to access the quiz portal?
    A link will be posted on this same website page when the quiz opens. Only when the student is ready to take the quiz, they can click the link which will take them to create their profile and begin the quiz.

Quiz Rules

  1. The participant MUST be a Class 2 or Class 3 student.
  2. Visit the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados website.
  3. Scroll to the end of the page and download the study material.
  4. When the quiz is open for attempts, the student can click on the link available on the website to take them to the quiz portal. The link should only be accessed when the student is ready to take the quiz. Early registration is not permitted; the system allows registration only at the time the quiz is being taken.
  5. The student will be prompted to enter their basic information (ENSURE ALL INFORMATION IS ACCURATE AND THE STUDENT’S ENTIRE NAME IS ENTERED)
  6. After entering the student information, the quiz will begin.
  7. The student has 40 minutes to answer 30 multiple-choice questions.
  8. THE STUDENT WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE QUIZ ONCE
