Dr. Lynda Williams
Blueprint For Life: The Cure is in the Cause
Dr. Lynda Williams graduated with a degree in Medicine (MBBS) from the University of the West Indies (UWI) in 1995.
She also holds a Master’s in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Dr. Williams was Clinical Director of the Barbados National Cancer Study from 2004-2007 and, Co-Principal Investigator of the Cancer Survival Study, both collaborative studies of the George Alleyne- Chronic Disease Research Centre (CDRC), UWI. While at CDRC, she assisted with the establishment of the Barbados National Registry for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (BNR). She has been a part-time lecturer in the Master of Public Health at UWI. At present Dr. Williams runs a general family practice with special interest in palliative care, diabetes, cancer and rheumatic diseases.
She has been a member of the Healthy Caribbean Coalition since 2011 and she has been President of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners since July 2020.
Dr. Williams was awarded a national award, the Gold Award of Excellence in 2022, for her contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has an active interest in Climate Change and Health and has participated in the Global Consortium on Climate Change and in her capacity as President of BAMP is currently a member of the Caribbean Health Alliance on Climate Action (CARHACA).
