Cecelia Neblett-Brathwaite
True Blue: Making It Stick
Cecelia Neblett-Brathwaite holds a master’s in philosophy in HIV/AIDS, elderly and behaviour change, Master’s (Administration and Management), and a bachelor’s with honours in Social Work from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill. Ms Neblett-Brathwaite also completed the Associate Degree in Marketing Management and the certificates in Para-Legal Studies and Substance Abuse Counselling from the Barbados Community College.
This dynamic Social Worker also obtained certification from Erdiston Teachers Training College in Technical Vocational Training for Adult Education. The nine years she spent in the QEH dietetics department led her to the Barbados Culinary Institute (BCC).
Employment history includes her time at the QEH, Sir Winston Scott Polyclinic, the Community Development Department, The Prime Minister’s Office (Millennium Goals), the University of the
West Indies, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, the Barbados Youth Service, Productivity Council, the Psychiatric Hospital, Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA), Verdun House,
Nation’s Better Health Magazine (contributor) and LIME.
Ms Brathwaite also served as Deputy Alumni President, President of the University of the West Indies, and Chair of the Library Committee. She was also honoured with the volunteerism award from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Additionally, Ms Brathwaite coordinated the Transition to Secondary School Programme, which included two morning sessions on TV and radio. To date, the behavior change Specialist is designing, implementing and evaluating programs for private and public health promotion campaigns.
